Welcome to the 2011-2012 JBE Grade 4/5 RotaKids Club. What a wonderful group
of young people, just fill of ideas to help others. They will be an outstanding
club and will accomplish many good things. They are already planning for the
election of their Secretary and of their Vice President/President Elect who will
be Vice President this year and the club President next year. Mrs. Mills pointed
out to them that this is not a popularity contest. Each RotaKid needs to carefully
consider which candidate will be the most responsible and the best person to help
lead the club. Being an officer is a big responsibility, as our three officers,
President, Vice president/President elect and Club secretary meets with Mrs. Mills
every month to discuss club business, ideas for club projects and ways to accomplish
the projects the the club has decided to do. They are your Executive Committee
and they decide what to bring to the club and the members then decide which which
projects to do. It is important that the ideas the Executive Committee brings
to the membership are ideas that the club can actually do. For instance: Providing
food to all the starving children of the world might be a little too big for our
club to tackle since there are many more starving children in the world than there
are people living in Florida. But taking the lead in encouraging all the students
in JBE to ask their parents to help the hungry people in Martin County by donating
cans of food to the annual Food For Families and then packing and taping the food
into boxes is very much something RotaKids can do very well. Some RotaKids have
even gone around their neighborhoods with their parent asking friends and neighbors
to contribute cans of food. These to ideas are both wonderful ideas, but only
one is a good one for RotaKids. And this is one reason that it is so important
that each RotaKid vote not for the most popular candidate but for the one who will
be a true leader bringing good DOABLE ideas to the club and working hard to help
all our RotaKids make the idea into a project and the project successful.
