Rotary is an organization of business and professional leaders united worldwide who provide humanitarian service, encourage high ethical standards in all vocations, and help build goodwill and peace in the world. In 170 countries worldwide, approximately 1.2 million Rotarians belong to more than 35,000 Rotary clubs.

Rotary was founded in February 1905 by a young attorney, Paul Harris, and several of his friends. They decided to meet once a week for lunch. Each week at a different office, hence the name Rotary. The first logo was a wagon wheel which has since gone through several evolutions to become the gear it is now. Note that in the gear, above left, the gear even has a keyway to lock it onto a shaft.

The Hobe Sound/Port Salerno RC was chartered Feb.23rd 1995.
The Stuart Sunrise RC was chartered in 1984.
The Stuart Rotary Club was chartered in 1929 and celebrates 80 years of SERVICE.
OBJECT OF ROTARY
The object of Rotary is to encourage and foster the ideal of service as a basis of worthy enterprise and, in particular, to encourage and foster:
1. The development of acquaintance as an opportunity for service;
2. High ethical standards in business and professions; the recognition of the worthiness of all useful occupations; and the dignifying of each Rotarian’s occupation as an opportunity to serve society;
3. The application of the ideal of service in each Rotarian’s personal, business and community life;
4. The advancement of international understanding, goodwill and peace through a world fellowship of business and professional persons united in the ideal of service
